Our Story
To be completely honest, Nissou Ibaraki all started with my beloved pet.
It didn't begin with a grand vision like
"I want to start farming" or "I want to export goods.”
I used to buy sweet potatoes from Ibaraki Prefecture in bulk
just to feed my pet.
However, as soaring fertilizer costs pushed prices up,
purchasing them at the usual price became increasingly difficult.
That’s when it hit me:
“Alright, I’ll grow them myself!”
And just like that, Nissou Ibaraki was born.

However, farming was by no means easy.
Every day was a steep learning curve,
as we sought guidance from agricultural mentors and professional farmers.
Along the way, we realized something key:
“Growing vegetables is just like raising children.”
The more care and effort you pour in, the more they give back.
That’s why we nurture every single crop
with the same deep affection as if they were our own children.

The more we learned, the more fascinating farming became.
From attending agricultural events to mastering farm machinery and securing new farmland—
as we kept pushing forward, our circle of passionate teammates grew.
By the way, I have a bit of a unique quirk.
I wanted our machinery to look cool when viewed from above by drones,
so I secretly painted the roofs gold—just between us!
Because above all, we never forget to have fun.

Because I travel abroad frequently for business, whenever I mentioned that I had started farming,
people would often ask: “Is there any way we can import Japanese sweet potatoes?”
I was deeply grateful to hear such interest.
Just imagining the produce we raised with so much time and care
landing on dining tables around the world made my heart race with excitement.
That is why we don’t aim to deliver our beloved produce to just anyone.
